The Story Behind The Art

Age 3

Diagnosis & The Early Patch

When Mark was three years old, he was diagnosed with amblyopia and was considered legally blind in his left eye. For years, he wore an eye patch and went through treatment to strengthen his vision. His journey led him to specialists across the U.S. and in other countries, searching for the best possible care.

"Today, Mark has regained 98% vision and has nearly overcome his amblyopia."

A Breakthrough in Perception

Seeing the World in Depth

That journey gave him a unique appreciation for something many of us take for granted — the ability to see the world in depth. Today, Mark expresses that appreciation through art.

He works with plaster, building layer by layer and playing with texture, light, shadow, shape, and dimension. What begins as a flat surface becomes something with depth, movement, and character.

3D Sight

"For Mark, creating in three dimensions is more than making art. It is a celebration of the beautiful world he is grateful to see."

Experience Light
& Shadow Live

Plaster art is dynamic. Depending on the time of day, position of windows, or spotlight angle, the shadows shift — transforming flat surfaces into living textures.

The Technique

Layer by Layer

The meticulous process behind every three-dimensional plaster creation.

01

Structural Foundation

Custom hardwood frames are reinforced to hold heavy plaster weight without warping over time.

02

Plaster Formulation

A proprietary mix of marble dust, lime plaster, and binder ensures micro-texture fidelity and longevity.

03

Tactile Sculpting

Applied layer by layer while wet. Trowels, brushes, and fingers carve peaks, valleys, and geometric ridges.

04

Curing & Seal

Slow curing allows natural chalky matte finishes. Sealed with UV-protective matte varnish to prevent discoloration.
